The Tides have Changed!

There is mucho love in this house these days! THIS is a GOOD thing. I could see a slight change in the egyptian a week or so ago - as if he made a conscious decision to "pull himself up by the boot straps" and make this his home. The adjustment period, my dear readers, has come to a close.

As you know, I took off this past weekend sans the egyptian. I needed a break, he needed a break - and well it was a bit of a gamble. I was afraid when I got home he might be resentful. Au contraire! Saturday night he called my parent's home exclaiming how much he missed me and loved me. Ahhh.. very good.

I got home and he was just a joy to be around, the man I fell in love with if you will. Since then - perfection. We are both well rested, clear in thoughts, and he officially (don't laugh) - but unpacked what was left in his little suitcases. See, he never officially unpacked all of his things when he got here. Clothes - yes, but the other little things, not so much.

While I was gone, he kind of marked his territory. He cleaned out some things, and yes, he went back into rearranging mode of the apartment. This time- I did not scream and throw a fit - I simply smiled and said, "I like what you have done with the place." THAT set very well with him.

It is almost Ramadan and I know it will be difficult to be away from his friends and family during a season that we might equate to Christmas. He will soon start fasting, and I am sure the calls home will linger a little longer. I am hoping to make this season a good one for him and I pray we can continue to keep this happy little groove going.

It's peaceful - and for that, I am thankful.

awe....I love hearing this!!! Absence does make the heart grow fonder at times. I can however totally understand your concern, but wow! What a truly awesome welcome home you did indeed receive! Here's to you and yours and many, many more happy moments! ~Hugs

Oh, I'm so glad things are better! Ramadan, of course, like the Jewish High Holidays, is a time for introspection. And it would seem that a little absence made his heart grow fonder, such that perhaps there's been an opportunity to re-think some things and realize how many blessings there are here and in your home ....

A marriage must be all about compromise and you and your husband have a huge gap to bridge. It's good to see that you both made steps across this bridge. I hope you can keep it up.
