XY

There are times when I wake up and I feel like super woman. You know the feeling, right? You wake up refreshed, you look in the mirror and think to yourself, "Not bad, not bad." The coffee is soothing, the sounds outside are cheerful, the sun shines just right - as if all of the world is a stage and you have the BEST lighting.

Then there are days you wake up and your eyes are stuck together. You shuffle to the bathroom and upon the first gaze you think, "Dear God in heaven." Then you scorch your coffee, and the sun - oh that blasted sun - it is as if you are a vampire and any light shining on you will sizzle you to ashes.

Today is one of THOSE days. But I know what the problem is. It's the XY Chromosome.

When you work full time and have to deal with an "Old Boys Network" and then go home to a traditionalist - the wild, crazy femi-nazi comes out in me.

How do you strike a balance, all the while wearing a red lipstick and heels?

I'm not the best person to listen to, but I deal by having tons of hobbys. I do archery, horseback riding, yoga, and the gym...every.single.week. I drink when I can, plan events and vent to whomever will listen. I actually had one of those bleary mornings this morning. Then I accidently dumped my entire lunch on the asphalt, lost my ID and forgot to pack gym clothes.

I get it.

Yes my friend, I understand completely. I generally sit back with a good book or a craft hobby to find a sense of calm on those types of days. Hope the rest of your day looks brighter!

I've got nothing for you on this since I can't remember the last time I woke up feeling like Superwoman... but I do feel your pain. I know what bad morning feels like...

Growing up, my mother was somewhat of a man hater. Lots of Lifetime movies. Her and my grandmother really hammered in the idea that females are the superior sex, when I was at such an impressionable age, that it's really kind of stuck with me.

So I can't say I ever have days where I feel yucky because men are being douchey men.

I love those days that I feel pretty good and can say not bad in the mirror. I have lived with pain in my spine for a few years now and I always wake up in pain. So I miss the days of waking up refreshed and like a super hero. Once the day gets going then it all comes together because it has to. Balance is something we all have to fugure out each day. I hope you are well! Have a great night!

Hmm, hard question. I've worked with lots of men and simply don't think about the fact that they are men - they are my boss or my co-worker or whatever. They may think differently of me but that's their problem. Hope you find that balance!
