12 Days of Christmas - Day #2 - Black Friday/Shopping Tips

I have to admit - this is not my favorite subject. Why? I refuse to shop on Black Friday, absolutely refuse.

There are so many reasons:
1. I hate crowds
2. I hate rabid suburban moms and old ladies fighting over a scarf.
3. I hate standing in line.
4. I hate not being able to find a parking place - and end up parking on the grassy knoll out near the highway.
5. Nothing is worth me getting up at 2am in the freezing cold to bum rush a store. Not to save a few bucks.

There you have it.

However, I do have a few shopping tricks of my own. For one, I always make a list and I try to stick to it as much as possible. I always make a basic budget. I really do think it through.

I tend to shop before Thanksgiving. There are just as many sales and not so many people in the stores. Also, I am a big fan of online shopping.

As for last minute shopping, not afraid of that either!

There you have it - out of all of the posts in this project, this is my least favorite. You know, shopping is therapeutic for me, and there is something about Black Friday that makes me break out into hives. It tends to take the pure joy out of it.

What about you? Do you DARE to face the crowds?

There is no way in hell I would go shopping the day after Thanksgiving! In fact, I'd like to avoid shopping full stop anytime during the month of December as well. Unfortunately I'm not a planner and I'm doing my Christmas shopping the week of :( I HATE LINES!!! Hmmm online shopping is sounding REALLLY good this year...

I'm with you! I absolutely refuse to shop Black Friday! I have done it only once in my entire life because my daughter was visiting for Thanksgiving and for some crazy reason, she likes going. I know it is to get the good deals, but I hate crowds, so I will not be participating in this ordeal.

No way - getting up at 2 is not my idea of fun. I just plot along during the month of December finding gifts here and there. Slightly unorganized but somehow it all gets done. Hope your having a good Tuesday!

Lines are a biggie on Black Friday, you need to be able to handle it. Haha, enjoy your Christmas Shopping.

I totally and absolutely agree. I may live in NYC but at least it's not a madhouse here all the time. Too stressful. Crowds like that make we want to start punching people and screaming. Can't do it.

I can't remember the last time I shopped on Black Friday (for ALL the reasons your listed!) Usually, I'm at home putting up the Christmas Trees. But, Leanne's motivating me this year, so we might meet up at Target at 4 a.m. while our loved ones are tucked away fast asleep. Wish us luck!!!
