To truly live

Angus Tuck said it best, "Don't be afraid of death, Winnie. Be afraid of the unlived life." (From Tuck Everlasting.)

As I sat watching the movie, I was reminded of how lucky we are to have options. When I wake up I am blessed to be able to choose each move I make. From what I wear to what I eat to what I do within the day, it is entirely up to me. Even at work - I know what the goal is, and I am the captain of my ship and can choose the course to get there.

I try so hard to really live my life. I really do. I live with intention and with tons of passion. I am passionate about everything - from what I choose, to how I react, to how I plan. It is full of passion.

My dear friend, Leanne, from "From Chaos Comes Happiness" wrote the perfect post today about picking your word of the year. Sort of a theme to live by. She got me to thinking, what are my "words?"

I always think of PASSION first and foremost. I must have passion in my life. (Not just romantic - but then again, that's a must too. Could explain some of the drama, eh? ;-) )

Then this past year, I just wanted peace of mind. I think I sort of found that last month when reading (dom.. dom.. dommmmm..) the Bible. Seriously - don't laugh. I have always played this little game with myself, where I hold the Bible and say, "Okay God.. I know there is something you want me to realize today.. reveal it to me.." and then I randomly open the Bible and close my eyes and point to a line. This past month my finger fell directly on Jeremiah 29:11 - For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

It brought me peace.

But moving forward, Leanne challenges us to find a new word of the year. Then I watched my movie, and it hit me - LIVE. Truly live. Live authentically.

The challenge moving forward is defining for myself what that means, how to pursue it, and what outcome do I hope to obtain.

I am in total agreement. Next year that will be my word: Live.

I love this. Such a great idea, a word. Now I'm going to have to go off and ponder what mine should be. Live is good, but maybe I want Love.. ;)
