State of the Union

Sundays are just magical for me. It is the perfect day for me to regroup, decompress, and just "be."

Yesterday, I spent 1/2 of the day in reflection, alone. Followed by the other 1/2 of the day amongst my friends and my husband.

Today was truly a good day. It started out with me throwing a  roast into the slow cooker to make my famous espresso/balsamic roast. (Check out the recipe section at the top of the page for this recipe.) I set the clock for 6am, and turned it off. Perfection awaited us.

Back to bed to sleep ever so soundly.

The egyptian and I woke up fairly early, I went to my coffee and to finish my Netflix movie "Sex & The USA." (Fascinating by the way. It's based on abstinence classes and what happened in one conservative town.) I fell asleep last night and never finished it. After all of that was done, I went to the kitchen to finish the potatoes and make a homemade peach cobbler.

That's right - for lunch we had my special pot roast, potatoes and peach cobbler for dessert. We both agreed, it was a magnificent lunch!

Later, the egyptian surprised me by inviting me to the movies. We went to see, "Just Go With It" with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Anniston. Got to tell you - it was hilarious. I thought I would not enjoy it, but found myself laughing the entire time. Afterwards, he treated me to pizza at one of our favorite pizza shops.

Shocked? Yep. It was nice. Good conversation... followed by totally blowing my Weight Watchers. EEK. Getting back on the wagon tomorrow morning. :-)

After a nice nap, watching a little "Extreme Makeover" and "Desperate Housewives" (both of the egyptian's favorite shows.." I find myself here, checking in with all of you.

Another week is here. So many surprises are lurking around the corner - some good, some.. well.. I am sure I will have a few "not one of those days" days. Whatever the case, right now - this moment... I am chill. I have my dress pulled out and hanging for tomorrow. I have my lunch planned. I know what all I need to do...

Life is good.

Not sure if it is the pot roast & peach cobbler, or the  quality time with a man I am desperately trying to rebuild my relationship with.

Either way - It was a great "staycation."

How did your weekend turn out?

Sounds like you had a relaxing staycation!

My weekend was spent working, but we weren't as busy as we expected. :-(

This week is shaping up to be a busy week for me, too. So much to be thankful for!
