Stuck

I love reading "How To" books. They always fill me with hope of a better, more positive, more organized tomorrow. However, I never finish them. The question is - Why?

The Happiness Project. I was sooo into it. Then the author lost me when she got to a chapter I simply could not relate to. I tried to push through it, but I simply watching the book collect dust on my desk. That's simply not acceptable.

Then I have the 3 book - combo of Julie Cameron's Creativity Books, beginning with the Artist's Way. I don't know how many times I have tried to read these, and I never get past the first chapter. Or The Purpose Driven Life. It only requires you to read for 40 days... I never get past day 16, believe me, I have tried the book over and over.

What is wrong with me?

I think a new goal I need to accomplish is to finish the "self help" books. I buy them, they have great advice, but I need to finish them.

I swear, I just annoy myself sometimes.

What about you? Do you ever find yourself STUCK?

I think there's a book for that.

Ha, ha, ha, ha I love what Betty said! So true I am sure. Maybe you just get bored and "think" you have to finish them. Just accept that you read what you read and someday if you feel like it, you'll read more!

Hugs,

Jacalyn

The Happiness project also lost me around halfway through. I think it was July or something. The month just didn't do it for me and the other topics didn't inspire me like the ones prior. But those first months were amazing from her! I did learn a lot, and really that's all that matters at the end of the day. That you take something positive from it. :)

Ha ha ha ha! I laugh because I do the exact same thing. :P I get to a certain point in self-help books and then get bored. I haven't been able to get past the first part of The Happiness Project. But I have the same problem with other books too. It took me 2 or 3 weeks to get through the Pray part of Eat. Pray. Love. :P

Oh, Yes! I'm right there with you! I think I told you that I bought the Happiness Project about a year ago - and didn't get much further than page 10 in it. I had my nightstand full of self-help novels, and finally decided that I'm pretty darn great just as I am. So, I've passed them on to goodwill and stay away from that section of the bookstore. I'm not as messed up as I always thought I was (embrace the authentic you!)

I was stuck for two years. I moved to LA to unstick. I'd highly recommend it :)
