Momentum

Each year, Leanne at From Chaos Comes Happiness, encourages us to come up with our "WORD OF THE YEAR." Last year was Balance, the year before was Passion. This year? It is MOMENTUM.

You see, I have my passions - I love writing, which I make sure to practice almost daily right here. I love photography, and if you know me and happen to follow my personal page on FB, you know I snap a bazillion photos all the time. I love good coffee with good conversation, which I participate in weekly with good friend. (Sorry Teresa, looks like Lisa is my replacement while in Georgia!) I could go on and on...

In 2011 I wanted to create a more Zen like home. I needed to find a balance through all of the chaos. Who knew, God would answer that prayer with forcing me into "time out," just like a little kid. Good to know, I have come out on the other side - less bitter, and definitely more mature.

In 2012 - I just want to keep going. There is a country song that my dear friend, Erica, shared with me - the lyrics go a little something like this: "When you are going through Hell - keep on going..." etc.. and it's true. The past FIVE months, (oh yeah, I said FIVE) have been a test of faith, perseverance and resilience. I stumbled pretty hard a few times, and I am not silly or naive enough to think it is over. No, on the contrary. But one thing I am doing - is keeping the Momentum going.

For the first week of 2012 - WOW. Could not have asked for a better week. It started off with a surprise call from my friends in Macon, inviting me on New Year's Eve for a trip to Savannah. What better way to ring in the New Year! If you have been following me for a while, you know that the Ocean, and any major body of water represents a changing of chapters for me. This trip to the beach was no different. I let it all GOOOO. I spent a couple of days with some really great people, no drama - lots of laughs and it felt right.

I get home Monday night, and basically do laundry and just chill-ax all day Tuesday, when out of the blue, the egyptian calls and asks me to come to Birmingham to spend a few days with him. Well of course I went Wednesday morning - and just got back about 30 minutes ago. I stayed for almost a week, and it was wonderful.

We talked, we laughed, we even disagreed - but it was different this time. We communicated.

Plans are in motion and we know what is right around the corner. It's exciting, really. The possibilities of tomorrow. We have a few choices on his side - and I am going to try a few things on my side - and we agree, whoever reaches their goal first -the other joins that person. There is a since of balance, a since of team work. No secret desires, no crazy ties to any place, thing or job - we are just trying to keep the MOMENTUM going and trusting God to lead the way.

That's the GREAT NEWS.

The good news - I got to spend some much needed time with old friends from Birmingham. I spent Wednesday with my friend, Laura from the blog TWIRL and her 6 month old (can you believe it???) Veda Jane. It was wonderful sitting on the floor with her and her baby, eating hummus and carrots and drinking super strong coffee with almond joy creamer! ;-)

Thursday, I spent the day with my friend Tamika. We ate a HUGE brunch together, which basically put me in a food coma, and then spent the day spending gift cards! I got some fabulous new threads!

Friday I spent the day with my friend Julie. We chatted, and looked at one bedroom apartments in Birmingham for the egyptian and I. Later, we popped down to the park and drank coffee while her kids played. I shared my love of Shel Silverstein with her daughter, and in turn, Julie, who happens to be a licenced therapist, gave me some wonderful advice!

Saturday the egyptian and I checked out more apartments, and then spent the rest of the day with my friend Shannon. We ate at a really great Middle Eastern restaurant and later met her and her mom out for dinner that night.

I drove home today (Sunday...) and I have to say - my heart is lifted, my mind is basically at ease, and I am truly happy.

Who'da thunk it? ;-)
