Savor the Year

I started something new last night, I decided to capture the "good stuff."

I originally got the idea from a pin on Pinterest.

This is where I got the idea...

So last night, I grabbed my blue jar from Pier One and pulled a piece of paper from my Audrey Hepburn "to do" list pad and wrote down one really wonderful memory from yesterday.

Because... every day.. there is something good, right?

I challenge you to do this! Especially if you have kids. I think this would be a fantastic tradition for families.

What you need:

1. Jar, shoebox, or other container
2. A pen
3. Post it note pad
4. Hot glue gun and items to decorate it with (optional)

What to do:

1. Each night select one good memory from the day
2. (option) Could be a ticket to an event or other memento from the day, versus writing something down.
3. Make sure to put the date on each entry
4. Fold and place in jar
5. Read on New Year's Eve 12/31/14 with your family

That easy!

I'm also participating in the 365 photos - one photo a day - and I will be posting them here and on Instagram. You can follow me at http://instagram.com/snicoleabdou

My word of the year is LIVE. By capturing my life in moments, I will savor what I set out to do!

Oh My Goodness - Where Did The Time Go?

I can hardly believe the end of the year is already here. We are just days away from wrapping up 2013, and of course, I begin to think back over everything that has happened to me.

At the end of the day, it was a good year. Yes, I got divorced. But that's not exactly a bad thing. (It's not a good thing either.) However, we all know it was necessary. Yes, I lost a few friends (as in death,) and that's always tragic. But I also believe they have served their purpose on earth and it was time to move on. I stayed fairly healthy, no major concerns. I met a new guy and things are going well. My social life is full, my family life is good, and all of my needs are met.

Yes, 2013 is good.

With that in mind, I need to come up with my word for the year. My friend, Leanne, at From Chaos Comes Happiness, encourages us to pick a theme word for the year. I've been contemplating what this year's word will be. I've tried balance. I've kept the momentum. I was inspired. What can I possibly do this year?

Maybe that's it... Do. But what would that be? Ah.. I know - Action. ?? Take action. Stop making excuses.

Hmmm.. not sure.

What about Dream? Nah.. over done.

Not sure. Not sure.

I'll work on it this week...

What is your word? If you've never picked one, give it a try. Treat it like a mantra, and live accordingly.

Stay tuned!

Make a Splash

I've been very busy thinking about next year. As you may know (if you have been following me for a while,) I follow Leanne's lead (at From Chaos Comes Happiness) to pick a word to live by. I'm trying to figure out what my word will be, and what tiny goals I plan to set for myself.

For 2012, I picked the word MOMENTUM. I kept telling myself to keep moving forward, don't stop until you see something you like. The year started off really lovely, with three days and two nights in Savannah with some good friends.

New Year's Eve 2011, Tybee Island, Georgia with me, Lisa & Leslie

We rang in the new year by sitting on the beach and watching the fireworks over the Atlantic Ocean. It was simply magical. I left my cares there - my worries.. and I remember thinking, "This is it. I will leave my worries behind. 2012 will bring new experiences into my life."

And I was right.

My first meal of 2012 - at Clary's in Savannah, Georgia.
I made a promise to just keep moving.. moving.. moving...

I knew I would find a job (finally.)
I knew I would be back in my own house. (again)
I knew.

Yep. Left my word on the beach

I sent my word out to the universe and let the ocean eat it up.

Me on Tybee Island.
I let the wind blow my cares away! (And almost my hat!!!)

I let laughter erupt!
I laughed.
I talked.
I felt like the old me again.

I regained my spirit.

And check it out... From unemployed, slightly depressed, broken, homeless (technically,) to

THIS:

I'm on the second row - 4th from the left.

Yep.

I kept the momentum.
