**Nicole slowly approaches the soap box. Cue lights.**
Oh Mr. Beck, you really know how to make an a$$ out of yourself.
Conservative is one thing. Disrespectful is another.
In case you guys are not aware, this jack ass commentator, spent well over 10 minutes on his radio broadcast commenting on Meghan McCain's weight.
I just can't make this $#%@ up.
Here is the broadcast I am talking about:
Now what is HE talking about? See the PSA - here:
*sigh*
Soooo... a public service announcement about skin cancer became an opportunity to rant about Meghan's body.
What I LOVE is the "open letter" to Glen Beck from Meghan. She IS spunky. To see it CLICK HERE.
Now, this was not going to be my original post - but it is soooo relevant to what I was going to talk about. Here it comes... I can't stop now...
Women's Rights.
Let's talk about derogatory statements. What sparked my orginal rant was a video my husband posted on Facebook. He was saddened and disgusted by what happened to reporter, Lara Logan while in Egypt.
Please watch the video HERE.
After he posted this video - a couple of Egyptian men chimed in. Saying things like - "There is no proof she was raped." and "Egypt is the best country in the world. No Muslim man would do something like this."
Needless to say - I think I busted a blood vessel in my brain. My comments, though directed at a few individuals are as follows, literally (I will cut and paste):
" I understand your need to "stand up" and protect your country - but what happened is NOT acceptable. She was raped. The actions of a few (very despicable) individuals are not acceptable. Not for her, or for any woman. Yes, in the end, she was protected - but the reactions and actions are not good. No one said that all egyptian men behave this way - though there were some who did. You went on and on about Egypt and wanting to change the government and calling America (the government) dogs - yet the whole issue was whether or not it is appropriate for a group of men to shred this woman's clothes, touch her inappropriately and then defile her limbs."
Then after telling me she was probably not telling the truth etc... I added this:
"How many women that are raped have it video taped? Seriously? Do you have to see something to believe it? Do you believe in Allah? Have you seen Allah? THIS is what is wrong - when people try to pretend something did not happen. Denial and placing blame is the most ignorant thing a person can do. NO ONE said Egypt or Egyptian men are bad. There were a select few who chose to defile this woman, shred her clothes and pull on her limbs. She does not have to show you anything. Her word, as well as any woman's word will suffice. I am sure her hospital records do also. All my husband was doing was showing what happened to this one reporter covering the revolution. There is a dark side to all people, and fortunately - someone who has the ability to share the story - did. It is hard for women who were raped to come forward. For this very reason. Men or people like you claiming she is making it up. She is very brave. And denial makes others cowards."
Followed 24 hours later with:
"I am still disappointed that you men are saying "If" she is telling the truth. My God... seriously? If it were your sister or your mother, and there was no proof other than her word, would you doubt her? If she was an egyptian girl - would you doubt her. Or is it that she is a girl - that you doubt her? This type of things makes me furious."
I WAS TICKED.
THEN - I see this story about Glenn Beck responding the way he did.
Seriously?
How many women are raped daily?
How many women battle an eating disorder?
How many women are in abusive relationships?
How many women are over looked for job promotions?
How many women are barely surviving on welfare, because their children's father will not "pay up?
How many women struggle to find affordable childcare or insurance, while working more than one job?
How many women are used and lied to and patronized by men?
Don't even get me started.
I am not sure where I am going with this... but - THIS HAS GOT TO STOP.
I think that this name calling, and reaction to women who are confident, intelligent and strong needs to stop. I think little boys like Glenn Beck are nothing but insecure, incompetent, ignorant imbeciles.
That aside, if you know someone who is a victim of harassment, either publicly or privately - and they need help, have them check out The Feminist Majority Foundation website.
They actually defined harassment in VERY certain terms. They are listed below:
Any of the following unwanted behavior may constitute sexual harassment:
leering
wolf whistles
discussion of one's partner's sexual inadequacies
sexual innuendo
comments about women's bodies
'accidentally' brushing sexual parts of the body
lewd & threatening letters
tales of sexual exploitation
graphic descriptions of pornography
pressure for dates
sexually explicit gestures
unwelcome touching and hugging
sexual sneak attacks, (e.g., grabbing breasts or buttocks )
sabotaging women's work
sexist and insulting graffiti
demanding, "Hey, baby, give me a smile"
inappropriate invitations (e.g., hot tub)
sexist jokes and cartoons
hostile put-downs of women
exaggerated, mocking 'courtesy'
public humiliation
obscene phone calls
displaying pornography in the workplace
insisting that workers wear revealing clothes
inappropriate gifts (ex. lingerie)
hooting, sucking, lip-smacking, & animal noises
pressing or rubbing up against the victim
sexual assault
soliciting sexual services
stalking
leaning over , invading a person's space
indecent exposure
I highlighted the very items Mr. Beck did.
I guess what I would like to know now is - WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Glenn leaves me at a loss for words. I have no tolerance for people like him.
Meghan, on the other hand, is amazing! Talk about spunk! Her letter was awesome! Thanks for sharing it!
Nicole - you are my hero. Seriously. I wish I had 1/2 the strength you do. You really are fantastic.
I agree - 100% - on ALL counts.
Whenever people feel the truth but they don't want to admit it, they attack with the most ridiculous thing they can to divert others away from it. Then next thing you know, everyone's talking about the red herring and no one focuses on the real subject. LOVE your post. Gossips rarely focus on the real item but divert into personal attacks. Consider the source and just remember that you can't fix stupid.
