Going it alone

Looks like the trip back to Egypt to visit his family is back on.

Of course, it will be for a month and I simply don't have the time or $$ to accompany him.

That's right, one month sans the egyptian.

Geez... hope my blog posts don't get all sappy and depressed.

Last night he informed me that he found an affordable flight. One that would take him from Birmingham to Atlanta and Atlanta to Cairo. His brother will pick him up from the airport and they will make the drive to Alexandria.

I am so happy for him to see his family. His younger brother got married last weekend to a girl my husband has never met. That has got to be hard. His mother has been sick, and he hasn't seen his father in a while (even before he came to the states.) This trip is important.

But what is hard to accept is the fact that there is another big festival in Egypt in late November. Instead of making it back in time for Thanksgiving - he is staying there. He feels since he missed two Ramadans in Egypt, he should at least stay for the festival. He is right.

Luckily, my family (after 2 years of not visiting due to time constraints) are coming over for Thanksgiving. At least I won't spend it alone.

I am happy for the egyptian and I am sad too. Even with all of the whining and complaining I do about his behavior sometimes, he is still my heart. This will be the first time we have been apart for more than 4 days since he got here.

I am sure it will make me appreciate him more.

Last night, after leaving our friends Amanda and Julie, he and I went to the Waffle House for a quick bite. (I got scrambled eggs and drank water.) He looked at me and said, " Things are going to be better when I get back. I have a plan now, and things are set for me to get my career together. It will be good Nicole, I will be better for you."

awe....I cannot imagine how heavy your heart will be. My husband and I have never been apart since we got together. But it definitely sounds like something that he needs to do and you are such a good wife supporting him in this decision. I'm sure in the end, it will all be for the best...and imagine how excited you will both be when he comes back home!

oh, dear friend. . . those words made my heart melt (and I'm sure they did for you, too.) You'll be ok. We'll make sure of it. This might be just what you BOTH need right now, and I look forward to the month with you and reading your words as the days go quickly by. (It will be quick - you'll see). Thinking of you.

*hugs*
