Last night I went to a tried and true, small town, county fair. The Jones County Fair, a fundraiser for the Lions Club has been going on all week in Gray, Georgia. I did a little research on this organization, just to see where the money goes, and what type of things they do in the community. If you are not familiar, apparently the Lions Club's mission is simple, and one I can completely believe in - "A community is what you make it." So true. That in and of it self, makes you feel good about spending your money with them!
One thing I read about them, that struck me the most was that they are really big with providing vision programs: vision screenings, eye banks and eyeglass recycling. They also provide eye care services to those at risk of losing their sight. And raise donations through campaigns like SightFirst and Campaign SightFirst II.
Not only were we able to have a blast, I feel good knowing it goes to a good cause. That's important.
But enough of my chitter chatter - let the pictures tell the story!
As soon as we got to the Fair, my entire family sat down for a meal at these huge make-shift picnic tables. Here is a picture of my sister with my niece - Autumn. We were chowing down on some just-grilled yummies from the Lions Club. A plate was only $5 and that included a drink! Talk about a delicous deal! Autumn enjoyed a hot dog - fabulous fair food!
I went for the corn dog and fries with a diet coke. (Saving up my sugar consumption for something fabulous later!) PS - Did I mention it was the first REAL cool night of the Fall here! Got down to 40 degrees, and the sun was shining around 6pm....
Here's a shot of my mom and Autumn enjoying their hot dogs! Not sure if it was a good idea to eat before the rides... but we did it!!
Here is a shot of my dad, he enjoyed a sausage wrap! I think I caught him with a little mustard on his cheek!
Face Painting for the kids! Who doesn't love a good face painting?
The Jones County Fire Department was on hand. I have to admit, this dog startled me a few times. LOL But I was able to catch him across the way. Nothing like standing at a ride at night, turn around and there is a life sized dog standing right behind you!
You know, I am all about details. Even the trash cans were ornate. I was also pleased to see recycling options scattered through out the fair grounds.
Looks like Mama Ducky has drowned...
The Piece de Resistance!
The Hallelujah Chorus just erupted in my ears!
My awkward shot - the one where I am trying to tell my mom how to operate my camera!
Another Teacup Shot!
Oh yeah - Autumn and I tore through this!

your photos were awesome. Of course my favorite was the B&W of the ferris wheel! :)
You took me back to some great times! Haven't been to a fair like this in 30 years. The night shots were really great.
I was just telling the hubs that we should take the girls to a fair, I realized they'd never been to one and I'd like for them not have that experience. Thanks for the reminder!
I absolutely love the black and white of the Ferris Wheel, and the nighttime ones as well.
Love. We've got a local agricultural fair up here that combines the carnival stuff with the prize vegetables and livestock, and a demolition derby.
So fun.
Love your post and the piccies!
Here from the linky ;D
I wanted to share with you that there's a new writing challenge/linky in town. Every weekend I'll share a PROMPT and every Wednesday everyone can link up there (poem or short story 500 max) response at the Storyteller Linky. This week’s prompt is a Picture. Check it out. :)

Love to have you on bored, but have a great weekend either way. Shah .X
It is clearly fair season! I sent hubby and our youngest to the NC state fair last night so the son could see his favorite band perform - the Newsboys! They had a blast but forgot jackets and froze their buns off. AND they didn't bring me a funnel cake!
I love the pictures! It always amazes me that changing something as basic as color to B/W has such a stunning effect!
As a adult the fair isn't my thing anymore but I really enjoyed your pictures! It's like I went this year :)
