Squawwwwk!

SQUAWWWK!

That's what I heard this morning in my head.

That is, after I opened my computer and typed the letters and symbols to get facebook.com.

I got a kick out of watching people get their red, white and blue feathers ruffled. Oh, how I love a good feather ruffling!

If you have been asleep the past 14 hours or so, or have been living under a rock, or maybe you have just awoken from a coma (hey, it happens) - I am talking about the super-controversial healthcare reform bill.

Yes, it passed. Now - let's move on.

It is important for you to know that I was in favor of health care reform. I am. I am completely for the following items:

1. Eliminate lifetime limits and restrictive annual limits on benefits in all new plans.

2. Prohibit rescissions of health insurance policies in all individual plans.

3. Prohibit pre-existing condition exclusions for children in all new plans.

4. Establish an internet portal to assist Americans in identifying coverage options.

5. Provide immediate access to insurance for uninsured Americans who are uninsured because of a pre-existing condition through a temporary high-risk pool.

6. Require new plans to cover an enrollee’s dependent children until age 26.

7. Require new plans to cover preventive services and immunizations without cost-sharing.

8. Offer tax credits to small businesses to purchase coverage.

That is all super cool to me. Yeah - I am willing for my tax dollars to go to this. Sure thing.

I am NOT willing to let my tax dollars go to other things - like a war I do not support. Nor do I like paying taxes to a government that sets restrictions on immigrants. (But that is for another blog and another time.)

With that being said. That's it. It's done, it's over - the politicians that voted YES in favor were put in power by us. If you don't like it, that's okay - just vote another way. I did not like what was going on when Bush was in office, and I was a life long republican. I could not find a good republican candidate that I wanted to support - so I voted for the person I thought could make some changes. He won - and changes are being made. That's awesome and feels like a great victory for America.

If you don't agree - that's fine with me. It's your American right... but it is also FUN for me.

Muhahahahahhaa.. (that is equivalent to an evil laugh.)

There is one thing I can count on - always - for pompous, fat-cat conservatives to freak out when someone steals their lollipops. (Or at least that is the visual I get. Sorry..)

Let me rephrase

I apologize - I just found myself stooping to their level..

what I meant was - the opposing side. I knew without a doubt there would be massive anger and uproar. Sooo.. what do I do? I am a chronic instigator. I love to watch people lose their cool. I don't know why - there is some sick, twisted thing inside of me that totally gets a kick out of people going a little crazy. Perhaps it goes back to the days in the newsroom - where we would all cheer when something crazy happened - because we knew we could milk it for days and possibly increase ratings!!

It reminds me of that line in psycho....

"We all go a little mad sometimes.."

Well apparently trying to help others get ahead in life is not an option for some, and they go a "little mad sometimes."

I am totally over the whole health care item. I got what I wanted. So there.

But for fun, I can instigate and watch how people totally lose their cool and squawk about how they are being robbed, and that they are good, loving christian "folks", and that they do their part. I find it interesting how in ONE SENTENCE - a person will say they are for helping their fellow man, and in the same sentence say - but don't touch my things!

For years many people on "the other side" have thrown punches at the other group - saying, "If you don't like it - leave."

Finally - is it our time to repeat the same offensive request??!

Absolutely not.

I understand the concern. But let's see if it works. Let's give it a try. I would not be surprised if the very same people screaming about this reform, are people who in their everyday life are super uncomfortable with change.

Sure - change is scary. And yes, problems can occur. But isn't one of the best definitions of insanity this - "Insanity - doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."

Perhaps I am a bit of a risk taker. I am willing to put our country out there on the line and hope for the best. I think a lot of good will come out it. And yes, I am sure that as soon as something even remotely off kilter happens, I am sure we will all be aware of it and Obama and his crew will have to wear the scarlett letter for a bit. Yeah.. yeah. No big surprise.

But for once, have faith. If you must worry - fine. I will let you do all the worrying for me.

Because I, too, have faith in an awesome God. Nothing happens without his will. As my beautiful Egyptian says.. "Insha Allah.." Which means - If God Wills it... and yes, I think he has.
