On the eve of typically my Worst Month Ever, I decided to do a little reflection on just how scary September is for me.
Then... something happened.
As I was driving down HWY 224 heading from Montezuma to Perry, it hit me. It wasn't that September was so terrible. I mean, think about it, I survived. Yes, it altered my course of existence...
But.. that's IT!
It simply altered my course. It was God's way of shaking me to my core and having me shift directions-alter my sails-take the road less traveled - etc.
These fundamentally core shaking experiences were just basic plate tectonics doing their thing with my soul.
As I sit and grasp the weird nuances that always seem to happen, I have to view it as life changing. Always for the better, in one way or another. Always.
With that being said, I'm just living my life. I promised myself that 2015 was going to be a beautiful, soul-enriching year, and I have happily stayed the course. I spent another fantastic two weekends with my S.G. soaking up nature and feeling this incredible, to-the-bone, peace. Life is good, and I am continuously collecting beautiful moments.
Last weekend, I got to meet S.G.'s granddaughter. I held this little baby girl in my arms and sort of marveled at how tiny she was. Knowing me, I am a little unsure of myself around babies, so in about 60 seconds flat, I handed her back to her father.
I spent a little more time with SG's middle child (biologically oldest,) at the farm. We enjoyed chatting, watching Youtube videos and picking muscadines.
SG took me on a golf-cart ride around Preston, his home town. I snapped this shot of his home church as we were rounding the bend. Just the perfect example of a small country church in the deep South.
I came back home and got a wild hair. I needed a change - in more ways than one. I chopped 5 inches off of my hair.
Ta - Dah!!
This past weekend I headed back down to SG's and indulged in more delicious, juicy muscadines.
Gypsy and I spent a little time together while my guy had to go into work for a little while. Coffee and a dog.. not a bad combo.
I spent most of the weekend working on some of my freelance writing assignments for Macon Magazine.
Finally, I got back into Macon this morning and read this.
I think September needs to not be so much about me, but what I can give back. If I put enough good into the world, certainly I can escape this month fairly unscathed... right?
Until next time...

Dearest September,
Dearest September,
I would like to make amends.
I think I have been harbouring too many ill feelings toward you. Yes, I realize you can be a little bitch and try to knock me down. No.. don't act like you don't. You know you do. I thought by now you would have gotten tired of me just getting back up.
You see, I'm VERY resilient.
Apparently it is a pretty strong character trait of mine. God sort of wired me this way.
With that being said, I understand your need to push me around, but I want to tell you.. it doesn't matter.
It really does not matter what you try to do to me.
You see - for whatever reason, I not only rise up.. I oftentimes rise even higher.
So with that being said. Let's redirect our energies, shall we?
How about... let's let by-gones be by-gones?
Let's just say that you are the beginning of football season and dead leaves. You bring me Starbucks Pumpkin Spice lattes and boots. It's okay to be a little snarky with me from time to time (Hell, it keeps me on my toes,) but there is no reason to be mean.
I am feeling good again. In August, I cut out some issues - too much conversation with my ex husband, untangled the wires with someone else. Actually, took a much needed break from a fairly stressful job and now I am just reinventing myself. I like it.. though not knowing what will happen is a little scary.
But not so scary that I let you get to me.
So with that, September, let's just agree to disagree and part ways for now. Don't waste your energy on creating havoc in my life. I'll only get right back up and be better than ever.

Remember September?
Oh bloody hell.
August is ending.
The doom & gloom started last night when my tooth cracked. Yep. Just three weeks after my dental insurance ended. (Thank you powers that be.)
Of course I rushed right out and bought one of those emergency tooth kits. No, a $1400 crown is not possible at this time, so it is cement city for me..... at least until I get dental insurance and a full time job, or a really wealthy husband.. lol..
I guess we can add losing my mind to the list.
Yes, my dear friends, September is the unluckiest month of all for me. Typically really bad things happen to me, and Lord knows, I pray that I come out fairly unscathed. But who am I kidding?
**just hit the search button above with the word September or bad luck and read all of the stories from the past few years.

Damn You, September.
Maybe September and I should reintroduce ourselves. Maybe we got off on the wrong foot. Maybe.. just maybe... I can turn things around.
God willing.
I've always looked forward to Fall; It's September that gets me down every time.
Do you think I am exaggerating? Au contraire.
I have proof:
Remember the time, it was back in 09, when I decided to try some "September Resolutions?" Yeah, that did not work out so well. Oh it goes on and on.. just read basically in post in September, usually hard core things happen. I wish I could just erase it all.. and not get caught up in the superstition. I wish there was some way I could perform some little ceremony to wash away the bad joo joo.
I actually decided to google "overcoming bad luck" and yes, as you can imagine, there are tons of ideas.
I found this Feng shui website that goes into great detail. Here is a quick look at what they recommend:
- Take a salt water bath. While soaking, they recommend imagining a spot of bright light at our forehead and slowly suppressing all the dark energy down words through the meridians of our chakras as we bathe. The salt is supposed to be cleansing, and washing away negative energy. (For example, after a day at the beach..)
- Power Energy Water Bath: Apparently this type of bath involves fresh flowers. Apparently the energy of the earth that enters the flowers then is released into the water.
- Improve the flow of energy. Apparently this involves decluttering, spring cleaning, burning some sandalwood incense, and installing a small water fountain or some free flowing item. Time to unblock the chi.
- Tap into the fire energy. Light up your home with candles and bright light. The fire energy produced will diffuse away bad energy. Turn on your lights every where in the home so that there is no area left dark.
- Display a luck enhancing fan. This may be the game changer. Apparently the idea is to change your luck - redirect it.
- Carry protective charms.
- Work on my karma through charitable works.
- Finally.. and this is my favorite - travel out of the country. lol.. BOOM.. excuse to travel.
You know.. I don't necessarily think any of things combined or alone will change my luck. I don't know why really big bad things happen in September. I do know that what I can control is how I react to things.
All of those scary monsters.. I've met them face to face. I've failed really big. I lost everything... and some how.. some way.. I found my way back. For me, that some way was God.
God willing.

A Post That Will Make You Feel Good About Yourself
Ode To September.
Oh September, you always punch me right in the face, and often times, provide a nice swift kick to the arse.
As we wrap up this God Forsaken month, I thought I would share with you that yes, she did rear her ugly head and decided to plop all of her spite on me this week.
1. Do I need to the state the obvious? The issues with the egyptian are at an all time "hello.. wtf?"
2. Diet is at a plateau. Holding 18 pounds down... strong and steady. The needle is just not moving.
3. A few thorns in my side. But I have plucked them out.
4. Finances. Always a worry.
5. This morning, I went to get my Drivers Licence. I need my GA D.L. for so many reasons, one is because in order to do anything (or make sweeping changes in certain departments) I need it to establish residency. Also my tag is about to expire in one week. I need a GA tag. You need a Georgia Licence to get a Georgia tag. Never fun pulling together all of your items.
6. Stayed up last night gather items:
- Current D.L.
- SS Card
- Passport
- Birth Certificate ( Original)
- Marriage Licence
- Water Bill (In my name)
- Electric Bill (In my name)
7. Got to the place, and realized I had a COPY of my Marriage Licence. They would not accept it.
8. Called the egyptian (whom I am barely speaking with) and asked where the original is.
" Nicole, it's in D.C. somewhere."
"D.C.??? WTH is it doing in D.C.?"
"It's with my citizenship application."
%^$#&
9. It typically takes..... oh... forever to get those things approved. Which means, my original is floating in THE system.
10. Which means I have to track down someone at the Jefferson County Courthouse in Birmingham and request another. (Do they even do that?)
11. Which also means - No Tag. My tag is about to expire. It's going to take time.
Let's just say I screamed a few obscenities to no one in particular in my car this morning.
12. THEN.. it's my only day off, and I HAVE to go in to create a sponsorship letter for some company that needs it today. I found this out... today.
13. A have some random certified letter waiting for me at the Post Office. I don't owe anyone... but it concerns me. ;-)
14. The Department of Industrial Relations DOES want me to pay $1400 back to them (from unemployment.) They believe they over paid me. How is this my problem??
15. I saw one of those HUGE bugs crawling on my wall last night. If you live in the south, you know what I am talking about. Since the egyptian is not speaking to me, I had to pull out my Wonder Woman powers and tackle this beast. I'm TERRIFIED and disgusted by bugs. I grabbed my expensive argon oil hairspray and tried to scorch it. No workey. Then I hit the wall a few times with my Nine West leather sling back stiletto.. Workey. I then crushed it... followed by running around in circles screeching "Ewww.. Ewww.. Ewwww." I flushed it, only to discover it's a floater. I woke up this morning and forgot about it and almost had a heart attack. It finally went down the toilet.
16. Stick a fork in me.. I'm done.
.... How many more days in September?
