I have played this little game since I was a little kid - I would get my bible and close my eyes and say, "Okay God, just tell me what I need to know today." Then I would open my book randomly and put my finger on a page. What is amazing 9 times out of 10 is, the verse or chapter I land on always seems to pertain to what I am going through.
I had a rough day at work yesterday, and this morning, though I awoke with muscle tension and stress, I thought- let me try that little game.
Amazing.
Here is where my finger landed:
In you, LORD my God,
I put my trust.
I trust in you;
do not let me be put to shame,
nor let my enemies triumph over me.
No one who hopes in you
will ever be put to shame,
but shame will come on those
who are treacherous without cause.
Show me your ways, LORD,
teach me your paths.
Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long.
Remember, LORD, your great mercy and love,
for they are from of old.
Do not remember the sins of my youth
and my rebellious ways;
according to your love remember me,
for you, LORD, are good.
Good and upright is the LORD;
therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.
He guides the humble in what is right
and teaches them his way.
All the ways of the LORD are loving and faithful
toward those who keep the demands of his covenant.
For the sake of your name, LORD,
forgive my iniquity, though it is great.
Who, then, are those who fear the LORD?
He will instruct them in the ways they should choose.
They will spend their days in prosperity,
and their descendants will inherit the land.
The LORD confides in those who fear him;
he makes his covenant known to them.
My eyes are ever on the LORD,
for only he will release my feet from the snare.
Turn to me and be gracious to me,
for I am lonely and afflicted.
Relieve the troubles of my heart
and free me from my anguish.
Look on my affliction and my distress
and take away all my sins.
See how numerous are my enemies
and how fiercely they hate me!
Guard my life and rescue me;
do not let me be put to shame,
for I take refuge in you.
May integrity and uprightness protect me,
because my hope, LORD, is in you.
Psalm 25
Granted, my version is a little more "pretty" - I just don't have time to type it all out, this was a cut and paste search from the Internet. I like the New International version a little better.
Anyway.. you get the gist of it all.
If you are having a bad day, or a hard time, or it seems the world is sort of "ganging up on you" - this is a really good chapter out of the bible to meditate on.
Here's hoping we all have a "blessed day."

A tried and true way of finding your message. I've done it for years and still marvel at how just the right page falls open. Bless you.

Thanks for sharing, Nicole!
These are very good verses to meditate on! My how does the word strengthen us!!!
Love this! The book club selection has been posted, please add your name to the book club page. Hugs!
Just the word "trust" makes me slow down and take in the present moment. If you are in a place of trust, then you are not worried for the future. You are not thinking of the past.
I love this, Nicole. I'd say more right now, but it's hard to type while blowing my running nose and wiping my eyes.
Thank you for sharing this. Thank you.
