I was supposed to do something each day to make myself happy.
You know what - I'm too much of a cynic to do that. I am simply wired differently. Sure, this may have worked about 20 years ago, but my life is entirely too complicated (as I am sure yours is also,) to even attempt to make this work.
Instead.. I want to adopt a new word. I honestly feel like I have to.
My word now is -
REINVENT
re·in·vent
/ˌrē-inˈvent/
Verb
Change (something) so much that it appears to be entirely new.
Take up a radically new job or way of life.
Yeah, I like that much better.
I'll tell you why:
I have been taking various steps to move in a new direction. I am finally at a place where I have a little more control over my life and my life's decisions, so I am doing the things I have always wanted to do. With that being said, I am growing in a different way.
I have made a commitment to my health. I have adopted a much smarter way of choosing my groceries. I tend to lean more toward local, organic and seasonal veggies. I try my best to not eat processed or microwaved food. I am drinking more water. I honestly don't drink very much. I have never smoked. So all in all.. I have made strides. I have gone back to the gym, and I hope to soon find a good ballroom dance class.
I have made a commitment to continue to learn. I purchased all five levels of French from Rosetta Stone, and my goal is to speak as fluently as possible. I hope to randomly take classes from time to time in a wide variety of things, all as a way to enrich my way of life.
I have made a commitment to give back to my community. It a wide variety of ways. (I think that goes without saying.)
I have a plan for myself personally. From church, to relationships, to life in general.
Yes, my new word should be reinvent.
What changes have you made in the new year?

I love that word...!
In fact in both my business and personal life, I have reinvented it. I started last year with the move to an all new state. Then focused on doing something different with my interior design/event planning business and now I own an online home decor store that will launch in March.
My personal reinvention is to eat better, get fit and be stylish...and girly like I've always wanted to be but never had the confidence too.

I too have forgotten about my word, especially in the last couple of weeks, where I've been caught up in all kinds of stress and drama. That's why I've decided to give up complaining for Lent, to help me get back on track in my pursuit of happiness.
Love your new word and I think it is very fitting. I'm going to keep it in mind for next year. :)
