Woo hoo.
Yeah, that's about all of the excitement I can pull together this morning.
Feeling very stuffy (sinus) and feeling a little down.
BUT - I have put together a schedule that should keep me uber busy for the next 6 or 7 days.
For one, tonight I am heading back to Warner Robins to hang out with one of my bestest friends (lol) and we are going for WINGS! I am sure you guys knew, but I am a Huuge wing fan, and this one place in Warner Robins is no exception. Mainly I am craving the Lemon Pepper wings and a side of fried pickles. hahahaha... I know.. SOOO healthy.
I am FINALLY getting the meds I need for this massive sinus infection. My unemployment hit today - and it looks like antibiotics and prednisone are going to become my best friends. It's going to cost me an arm and a leg due to the fact I am insurance-less, but I have to do this. 16 days later and I am still sick, yep - I had to call my E.N.T.
Finished an amazing book, and no I have not seen the movie yet - The Help. Lord have mercy, if that is not the south, I don't know what is. Granted it's 40 years later (post Civil Rights,) but many people my own age have heard our grandparents (if you are white) say things like the white women say in the book. It's sad, it's ignorant, it's ridiculous. I am lucky to have the parents I have - my dad is from Indiana and my mom was raised right here in the south, she was a teen ager during the civil rights movement, and was even raised by what I would call, racists, parents. But that was NOT how she raised her children.
I know some of my southern friends would say, "But Nicole, it wasn't their fault. (speaking of my grandparents.) That's just a sign of the times. It's just the way things were."
That's no excuse. I like to think that if I was a girl growing up in the south back then, I would have been pro-civil rights. One of my friends challenged me and said, "No you would not have. You would have gotten in so much trouble."
But then I thought - wait, I openly support MANY controversial subjects, and yes people give me a hard time about it, soooo.... maybe not.
Oh, I don't know.
I would like to tackle race relations in a future post. I am in the thick of southern culture, and don't be fooled ladies and gentlemen - there are still issues.
Well - off to Walgreens for the meds! Have a great day - I'm thinking CHICKEN WINGS!

Happy Wednesday, Nicole! Enjoy the wngs! I read The Help with my book club and it led to some great discussions.
I absolutely loved The Help! It was the first book I read on my Kindle. I can't wait to see the movie.
Enjoy your day and eat a couple extra fried pickles for me! I haven't tried them yet, but they sound like something I would love. :)
